Welcome to Worship in The Episcopal Church
If you’re new to Episcopal worship, we’re glad to welcome you. Our weekly service leaflet will help you understand what’s going on, when to sit and stand, and how to participate. If you’ve ever worshipped in a Christian church, or been to a church wedding or funeral, you’ll find quite a bit of the service familiar.
Most of our members were raised in other faith traditions – or none at all – so most of us were ‘new to this’ at one time. We’re happy to help you become familiar and comfortable with our worship. If you have any questions, our ushers and your fellow worshippers will be glad to give you some guidance.
More About Our Worship
We believe that coming together to share God’s word and sacraments is a sustaining and meaningful part of the Christian experience. Our worship is drawn from the Holy Bible, the Book of Common Prayer 1979, the Hymnal 1989, and a wide range of musical and worship sources from our Anglican heritage from the past and from around the world. We strive to make our worship accessible, inclusive, edifying, and fulfilling. (To learn more, visit our Mission and Beliefs page.)
All services include readings from the Bible. After the reading and interpretation of scripture, we move to the celebration of the Holy Eucharist (Communion). Sometimes there are baptisms or blessings as well. And the 10 am service is followed by fellowship at our weekly Coffee Hour.
Our 8 am service is entirely spoken. Our 10 am service includes music from our organist and choir, as well as congregational hymn singing.
Children are welcome at every service regardless of their age. You’ll find some kid-friendly materials available when you enter the church. From September to June, there’s Sunday School on most Sunday mornings at 9:30 am.
